10 Things to Avoid Before Closing Your Home Loan

You applied for a mortgage and got your preapproval letter. You found the next house you will call home. Your mortgage lender has everything in motion and just sent you an email to set your closing date.

Now it’s important to avoid the following ten things before you close your home loan. DO NOT:

  1. Make a major purchase—car, boat, expensive piece of furniture
  2. Change jobs
  3. Open a new or close an existing line of credit
  4. Pay bills late
  5. Ignore questions from your lender
  6. Let anyone run your credit report
  7. Deposit large amounts into your accounts other than your paycheck
  8. Cosign on another loan with someone
  9. Change banks or open another account
  10. Take out a pay day loan
